We Love DC!

In the words of "the kid"...today was awesome! School is out so when I get a weekday off I try to plan something fun for me and my son to do during the day. Today I decided to take a day trip to DC to visit The International Spy Museum. The kid absolutely loved it! It was fun and interactive...and also incredibly fascinating and informative. Our favorite exhibits were all the different spy guns like the lipstick and cigarette case guns. We walked through the museum itself for about an hour and a half before we stopped by the gift shop (a bit pricey but very cool stuff) where we purchased a "spy blaster" and some very cool freeze dried space ice cream. There were two restaurants right there in the museum (the spy dog cafe and zola's). We had lunch at The Spy Dog Cafe, which was also a bit pricey but the food was ok.
After lunch we decided to walk around and sightsee. GREAT idea! We walked about 5 or 6 blocks to visit The Capitol, The Senate, Lincoln memorial and the monument. We then took a walk to see The White House. We managed somehow to stay pretty cool thanks to all the popsicle stands on the way. The kid was fascinated by all the museums and statues. We walked around Dc for over 3 hours! It was a wonderful day and the kid agreed. I'm posting a few pics but unfortunately there was no photography allowed inside the museum so I guess you'll just have to go and check it out for yourself. It was a full day and we are BEAT. happy summer everyone!

Summer Evening, Summer Rain

Yesterday was another hot and humid day here. After work, I hung out with a few co-workers at a hip little korean restaurant and then came home to spend some summer time with "the kid". We took a trip to the library to return some things and pick up some new books for his summer reading program. I decided it was also a nice night to take a walk down to the lake and watch a local band perform. It was a beautiful evening...until we got back to my mom's area. It didn't rain at all where we were but in my mom's area which is about 15 minutes away, it looked like a hurricane had come through! There were trees on the ground all over the place, power lines laying in the road and no power until about 4am. I'm glad we missed the storm but it was a total disaster to come home to. Tonight I was thinking about going to the movies or either jumpzone. Enjoy your day dolls!

Walk On The Beach...

Yesterday was pretty uneventful. I worked all day so I didn't have alot of extra time for any special activities for me and "the kid". It was extremely hot in Maryland during the day, but by late evening it had cooled down some so we went down to the beach just to go for a walk. We just walked and people watched before coming home to have dinner on the deck. So far summer is relaxing...but I'm also looking forward to party time! lol :-)

Great Expectations...

The beginning of a new season almost feels like the beginning of a new year to me. Just like the "new years resolutions" that we make at the start of the new year, I have made goals and resolutions for myself for the new season. My biggest personal goal for summer is to take better care of myself and get myself back in shape. I've joined a gym and started eating...better, but there are still some things I want to work on. I definitely need to work on getting adequate sleep, drinking more water and just taking time to get away and relax when the insanity of everyday life starts getting the better of me.

I have great expectations for this summer and I'm so excited to get out and have some fun! Definitely need a vacation, a spa weekend, a ladies' night and just some good old fashioned R&R. Hopefully, I'll also get to spend more time with family and friends during the summer than I did in winter. I'm looking forward to having an incredible summer filled with nothing but fun, fun, fun! Hope your summer will be as awesome as mine!

It's Summer!!!

It is now OFFICIALLY summer!!! Yesterday I spent the morning at the pool with "the kid", stayed inside with the cool air during the afternoon and had a great late evening dinner on the deck (while watching "the kid" and his friends catch lightning bugs)...ahhh summer
