We Love DC!

In the words of "the kid"...today was awesome! School is out so when I get a weekday off I try to plan something fun for me and my son to do during the day. Today I decided to take a day trip to DC to visit The International Spy Museum. The kid absolutely loved it! It was fun and interactive...and also incredibly fascinating and informative. Our favorite exhibits were all the different spy guns like the lipstick and cigarette case guns. We walked through the museum itself for about an hour and a half before we stopped by the gift shop (a bit pricey but very cool stuff) where we purchased a "spy blaster" and some very cool freeze dried space ice cream. There were two restaurants right there in the museum (the spy dog cafe and zola's). We had lunch at The Spy Dog Cafe, which was also a bit pricey but the food was ok.
After lunch we decided to walk around and sightsee. GREAT idea! We walked about 5 or 6 blocks to visit The Capitol, The Senate, Lincoln memorial and the monument. We then took a walk to see The White House. We managed somehow to stay pretty cool thanks to all the popsicle stands on the way. The kid was fascinated by all the museums and statues. We walked around Dc for over 3 hours! It was a wonderful day and the kid agreed. I'm posting a few pics but unfortunately there was no photography allowed inside the museum so I guess you'll just have to go and check it out for yourself. It was a full day and we are BEAT. happy summer everyone!
